  Parivartan

Gender is commonly understood as the socially created differences between men and women as distinguished from the biological differences between the sexes.

Gender is this a part of all our lives and an awareness of how it works and shapes our lives is something we all need.

The ideas of ‘womanliness’ or femininity of women -that they are ‘delicate’, ‘good home-makers’, ‘docile’ and ‘timid’,...and the ‘manliness’ or masculinity of men -that they are ‘brave’, ‘ bread-earners’, ‘strong and in control’...are all notions created by society which in turn are responsible for the social status and place, men and women occupy today.

These categories and statuses assigned to men and women are neither just nor equal.

It is thus our collective responsibility to try to bring about a ‘transformation’, a ‘Parivartan’ in this situation. Parivartan offers you a space to reflect on and understand this, to explore what you can do. Do join this forum,
